As much as I love reading long, feature articles, over the year’s I’ve learned that attention spans do tend to be on the shorter side now-a-days and because of that I’ve altered the way we write game previews and recaps.

Our previews for example have morphed from being stories and are now more in line with blogs, hence our new name for game preview articles, Game Day Blogs. These are short hits on the most important notes heading into a particular matchup.

As for our game recaps, we no longer write detailed stories, but instead write a quick, paragraph-long, recap of the game, followed by our goal-by-goal recap, notable stats and quotes. The purpose of these packages is to give tools to local media, who don’t always cover our games, to get simple notes to write their own articles for repurposing.
